When you think of having a baby, one of the most fun things that comes to mind is the baby registry! However, while picking out all the things you need for baby is fun, it can quickly become overwhelming. Between the super cute clothes, the incredible stroller systems, and the hundreds of new gadgets on the market, it’s easy to get confused at what items you actually need.
Depending on where you live plays a major role in how much baby stuff you’ll be able to have. If you’re living in a smaller apartment, focus your registry on getting items that can transition as your baby grows. A bassinet that can convert into a crib and a newborn stroller system that can easily hold a toddler are great investment pieces! Since space is limited, don’t feel the need to purchase all of the little gadgets that aren’t make-it-or-break-it for baby. Trust us, you don’t absolutely need that bottle warmer machine or the wipes warmer machine either!
If you’re living in a house in the suburbs, it’s likely that you plan to get around in your car. Be sure to register for a car seat and stroller that can fit into your car with ease! And, if you’re hoping to have more than one child, think about purchasing a narrower & longer carseat which can fit more in the backseats of your car than a bulky one! As far as gadgets go, be sure you register for a good baby monitor since chances are that your little one will have their own nursery where they will be napping while you are busy around the house.
If you’re a serious runner, then absolutely! However, if you’re a casual runner who will only use the system a few times a year, then no, it’s not necessary for you. While jogging (aka: BOB) strollers are incredibly cool, they are not for everyone. If you don’t plan to run with it often, you’re better off investing in a stroller system that is good for everyday use and skipping out on the BOB.
Find one stroller that works for everyday use, for travel, and for the occasional workout, so that you’re not needing to store multiple strollers at home or in the car!
As you can tell from our conversation above, essentials for your baby depend on your lifestyle! If you’re planning to breastfeed, having a pump is a great idea. If you’re hoping to make your baby food at home, having a steamer at home is important. If you want to baby wear, then investing in a good carrier is necessary also.
All that to say, before you hop over to the nearest baby store to sign up for every little item, take some time to determine what your lifestyle is so that you can purchase only the items that your little one will need. Not only does this help minimize the clutter, but you’ll be able to invest in the gear that you will actually use!
