What to Pack for Your Little One on Vacation

What to Pack for Your Little One on Vacation

It’s almost vacation time and while you’re all packed, you have no clue what to bring for your little one! While packing for your baby might seem like a daunting task, we promise it’s much easier than you’d imagine.

We’re sharing some of our favorite tips & products to ensure you’ve got everything your baby needs before you take off.

TIME TO LIST IT OUT

This is going to sound like a no, duh suggestion, but grab a pen & paper and get ready to make a list. One of the biggest mistakes parents make when packing for their little one is by bringing too many extra things.

To determine what you truly need to bring with you, first think about where you’re traveling to and how you’re getting there. While you may think it’s necessary to bring along a car seat, stroller, and baby carrier, you may not actually need all of those things. If you won’t be traveling by car, skip the car seat. If you’re going hiking and don’t expect to use a stroller, bring the carrier only.

We’d also suggest doing some research to see if you can find someone at your destination who can lend you a car seat and/or stroller! The less bulky items you bring along with you, the easier traveling through the airport and collecting your baggage becomes.

WHAT DO I REALLY NEED TO BRING

Now that you know where you’re traveling to, think about the clothes that your little one will need. Will it be super warm where you’re going? If so, be sure you’re packing comfortable lightweight clothes for your babe. If you’re headed to somewhere cooler, don’t forget to grab a jacket.

We’d also suggest you check with your hotel to see if they have a washer and dryer available! In case of emergency, you’ll be able to run a load of laundry while you’re there so that you don’t have to bring a ton of extra clothes. And in the worse case scenario, remember that most vacation spots have department stores where you can easily purchase affordable kid clothes in a pinch!

Here are some of our suggestions on what to pack:

Clothing

  • One outfit per day + 2 or 3 extra
  • Shoes (sandals if needed, otherwise, bring their most comfortable pair of walking shoes)
  • Hat and/or sunglasses
  • Swimsuit
  • Jacket, mittens, & socks if you’re traveling to a cooler destination

Bath Gear

  • Shampoo & Bath gel
  • Towel (or skip this and use one from the hotel!)
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

Feeding Items

  • Bottles, Sippy cups
  • Breast Pump & Ice Packs if you’re nursing
  • Baby Silverware
  • Formula -- especially if it’s a special brand that you can’t find easily

Diaper Bag

  • Snacks for your trip
  • Diapers (Don’t overpack these! You can always buy more at your destination!)
  • Plastic bags for holding dirty or wet clothes
  • Formula Dispenser
  • Toys!

PRODUCTS WE LOVE

Now that you’ve got a base for things to pack, you can tweak it to fit your needs! And because we don’t want to leave you hanging, take a look at some of our favorite tried & true products for travel. Hopefully they will help you out as much as they’ve helped us!

LOGAN AND LENORA BAGS

Logan and Lenora Bags

If you’re searching for the perfect catchall diaper bag, look no further! These waterproof and washable bags are perfect for your daily life. They can transition from mommy duty, to gym bag, to carry-on travel companion in a jiffy.

TULA COAST CARRIERS

Tula Mesh Carrier

If you’re looking for a lightweight carrier for vacation, we highly recommend the Tula! With the warm weather, the mesh carriers allow for ventilation to keep your little one comfortable whether they’re hanging out looking around or taking a nap. If your baby is teeny, be sure to get the infant insert to ensure your teeny one is comfortable & seated correctly.

For teenier infants, be sure to also take a look at these gorgeous Maya wraps & ring slings. These are better options for those who don’t have an infant insert and/or don’t want to purchase one.

MUNCHKIN FORMULA DISPENSER

Munchkin Formula Dispenser

If your little one is a formula drinker, these dispensers are worth every penny. By measuring out the amount of formula you need for each bottle prior to travel, you’ll save time on fixing up a bottle when your little one decides he needs one right away!
